Great things happen by love

Hello sweethearts!

Winter days are finally over, now only with a strange remembrance I recall of cold days while the spring sun warms  my face. Winter was long but somehow Gloria's presence early in March was just an introduction to the beautiful days ahead.

These photos are taken on the last day of Gloria's stay in Zagreb. It was a gloomy day but long talk with coffee and cakes made it better. In the evening we relaxed with the film and hers delicious pancakes. I write this because I really enjoyed Gloria's company but also, I've been thinking a lot.

Gloria was working on herself in the last few years and while I was looking for a security in her decisions and actions I overlooked a simple and wonderful thing. She said: "Great things happen by love"...and then everything was clear to me.

Not to enter into some deep thinking now, I hope every one of you reading this will think about that sentence and what it means to you. And I hope you will keep it in your morning reflections before you start your day like I do. Thank you my dear friend...

Here tulips bloom as they are told

"A tulip doesn’t strive to impress anyone. It doesn’t struggle to be different than a rose. It doesn’t have to. It is different. And there’s room in the garden for every flower. You didn’t have to struggle to make your face different than anyone else’s on earth. It just is. You are unique because you were created that way."

Hello sweethearts!

One thing that I like more than spring is to dress up for spring :)
Dressing up in a floral dress while everything around me is in bloom is like some kind of therapy that works almost good like sun on me. That's why Dolly & Dotty Annie dress became my favorite dress this late spring...If you ask me it came just at the right time, both dress and spring.

As always, Dolly & Dotty delivered a fantastic dress. If you order from them, quality among other things is what you will surely be satisfied with. In a multitude of styles they offer, Annie dress is the one that will fit every body. This swing dress is cut to compliment your curves and make, not just to look but feel amazing.

This pretty dress completes even more beautiful print, just created for springtime walks in nature.

Soft cotton fabric makes sure you feel comfortable, and simple but elegant cut allows layered dressing in these changing spring days. My favorite feature is the bateau neckline and swing skirt. Zipper on the back makes it easy to put on/off and ironing is super easy.

Sleeveless cut is great for cardigans which are an indispensable part of the colder spring mornings. I am wearing a size UK12 and it fits perfectly because fabric has a bit stretch that carries the body nicely. Is goes just below my knees ( I'm 5'5 ) and beautifully falls on a petticoat.

What makes the dress stand out are printed tulip flowers. This bold print will provide you with lots of compliments.

Fortune in Kitty

Hello sweethearts!

Spring is finally here! Oh how I wished warmer weather to ride on my bike but April is a month known for its moody weather and I got just the perfect piece of clothing for that!
Miss Fortune's Kitty Batwing top is like created for April showers, cold mornings and warmer days.

Kitty Batwing top comes in an assortment of six gorgeous colors.  Always so kind Laura, the designer behind Miss Fortune, was sweet enough to send me this gorgeous Kitty top in black/ silver lurex.

First I must say, and I'm not sure how to put it in words, this top is unbelieveably comfortable. Like, soooo soft and light that I feel  super movable and free wearing it. It's made out of Polyester-Spandex mix with a silver lurex thread running through it in a crinkle texture.

I just love the elegance that silver lurex gives to this classy top. Honestly, this is my first batwing style top. They horrified me! So much that I never even tried one before. But slash neck, 3/4 length sleeves and silver running won me so much that I hat to give it a go. And now I'm in love.

This super comfy jersey top goes par excellence with a skirt like I'm wearing it, but thick and stretchy ponte fabric makes it so comfortable that I definitely see myself wearing it in a more casual occasion with some nice cigarette pants!

How she sees me

Hello sweethearts!

After late winter and snow, spring came to us. Suddenly, I would say, knowing that it will not stay. Crazy March will treat us with some more winter, so enjoying this sun is a must.
Reading on the bench in the park is my kind of spring happiness.

Verses from „The golden age“ filled my heart with hope and took me back at the beginning, just like spring, new birth, new love...
But Gloria's presence does that, and she has perfectly transposed her virtue in „The golden age“, her first published poetry book.

If you read my blog, you know that I wrote about Gloria La Marr before. But if you aren't familiar with her work yet, I'm sure these amazing photos and accompanying text will encourage you to learn more about this young artist.

Everything she touches, photography or writing is not only driven by love, but also by knowledge.

Coffee and cake with Gloria is something that I honestly love. Not just because I enjoy her company, but also I get the chance to learn a lot. Learn how to enjoy small things, love what you do and listen to your heart.

Gloria is a one of a kind friend that everyone should have. The one that takes out the best of you. And then she takes photographs. Photographs which are a blend of her beauty and talent. They are the result of her love for art and her virtue that makes the other person just shine.

Our little rituals of drinking coffee and walking hand by hand while we talk about fashion, photography, life and love for all things mentioned, really brightens my day. She inspires me in many ways.

I can hardly wait for our next hangout and talk about her new book 😍

Scarlet Bloom

Hello sweethearts!

I am super excited to bring a new blog post for you after such a long time, especially because it is a review of a gorgeous dress so I had a chance to get in front of a camera and do what I love after a long working summer. I'm very impatient, so let's get started!

My love for 40's era is huge so adding another beautiful 40's inspired reproduction dress to my closet was pure joy. This one is from Pretty Retro, an exciting British brand of retro/vintage styled womenswear primarily influenced by 1940s and 1950s fashion and sister brand to The House of Foxy.

I wear Pretty Retro dress in 40's Tea style. This style is available in 3 new different prints (on Pretty Retro site this style is available in 7 prints!), one more beautiful than the other. Mine is called Scarlet Bloom 🌹

Since I live in Zagreb now, the process of organizing a photo shoot and creating a look was a little complicated. Half of my stuff are still at my parent's house which is 3 hour drive away. So I told my mom to come and bring me all of my red and white accessories (sorry mom 😅).

I had a classic look with hair snood and gloves in my mind but when I put the dress on the feeling it gave me was completely different, I guess you can see why- it's pure va-va-voom 🔥
So I ditched the snood and lace gloves, put my red pumps and let the dress do all the talk.

First that draws attention is the bustline, obviously. Gathered details pulled into a sweetheart shape by fabric tabs at each side are here to create an enviable bust on every gal. Ribbon at the end of the V cut is also a nice touch that you can let loose or tie into a bow.

I love the cute flutter sleeves which falls nicely because of lightweight 100% polyester scarlet floral print material. Fabric is non stretch but due to style of dress it will form itself naturally according to body shape. I wear a size UK12 that fits 38" bust, 30" waist and 39" hip.

Tea style dress fits my usual size so I would say it is true to size but if you are undecided, choose by hip size because gathers above and below bust are accommodating of different size busts and cut over waist and hip means it will also expand to fit.

The dress suprised me with one unusual (for me) detail- no zip or fastenings! I was initially intimidated but due to bias style it is enough to just pull it over your head.

The design of this dress seems simple but bust details add a lot of fancy to it, so  it is suitable for everyday wear and also for nice summer evening dinner. I find it very adaptable for a lot of occasions, just change some accessories like jewelry or bag.

Since the print is floral and has a lot of vibrant colors the possibilities for accessorising are countless- from plain white cardigan and white lace gloves with white hair snood to pink, green or yellow shoes and jewelry. Or even inconspicuous brown or black shoes and bag for a more toned down look (we all know how wearing vintage style can attract many curious views).

Oh and one more great thing! If you are not a dress addict like myself, Pretty Retro also offers an amazing 1940's & 1950's inspired blouses, shirts, jersey tops and cardigans, swing pants, capris, skirts, knitwear and best of all- gift vouchers! Now you are ready for a holiday shoping 🎁
