Dolly & Dotty and Check

Hello sweethearts!

Have you noticed a fairly new vintage style clothing company Dolly & Dotty?? If not that you are seriously missing out- BIG TIME! Wanna know why? Let me tell you :)
Dolly& Dotty are based out of Brighton in the UK and they offer a huge selection of budget friendly beautiful vintage inspired pieces in UK sizes 6-24. I first noticed them a few months ago when I saw a few gorgeous ladies on Instagram wearing their dresses and they immediately caught my eye with amazing styles and colors.
It was a real challenge, choose a dress to review because their are all so beautiful and I have to admit my wish list is very long haha but the decision was made: Vanessa Classic 50’s Inspired Check Dress in Navy because I don’t have anything like this in my closet.

Parcel came very very fast, 3 days from UK to Croatia so A+ for shipping! When I opened it up my first tought was: “OMG this is soooooo soft!!!”

Fabric of this dress is like nothing I have ever felt! Vanessa is made out of  95%  cotton and 5%  elastane and it is like you are touching a cloud! I don’t find it stretchy but it is very comfortable and lightweight piece for summer.

Another thing that astonished me is contrasting lining, I love how bright red lifts up the navy check and gives this dress dose of playfulness Very appropriate for my summer bike ride ;) Dress has a swing skirt, but it's not a full circle. It can still fit a slim petticoat and it gives her a nice shape.

Also I really like the matching belt, that is one of my favorite features on this dress because it is not embedded so I can lift or pull him down as I like (there is nothig worse for me when I can’t move my belt because dress has strips for belt that are usually too high and I look unproportional!)

But the belt itself has a strip in the right place so you don't have to tuck in the rest of the belt, we all know how that can be ugly and uncomfortable!

It closes with a size zipper and it is true to size, I am wearing a size UK12. Now when you read and see everything you need to know what are you waiting for?

French gingham

Hello sweethearts!

I can't wait for spring to come! So many pastel outfits and noooo mooooore coats hahaha so...Its pouring rain here and all I can do is daydream...

I have a skirt that will be one of my most worn pieces this spring, It is the first (can you believe it?!) gingham pattern in my closet.

This full circle light blue gingham skirt is made by a Aline Raulin. Aline stands behind the name La loge de Lilly, French couture designer inspired by retro and fifties fashion.

Aline studied fashion and performing arts, where she learned several techniques  as corsetry and attention to the details. She also learned the history of fashion, costume, entertainment ...

Laloge de Lilly is active since September 2012. It is inspired by cabaret and 1920’s to 50’s. Laloge de Lilly makes made to measure pin up and rockabilly clothes, baby clothes, costumes and much more!

My skirt is made out of cotton,so it is not stretchy but
it has an elastic waist band which provides comfort. And since is full circle it goes well with and without petticoat.

Laloge de Lilly has clothes that are ready to sale but she will gladly make you a custom skirt and you can choose from a multitude of fabrics!

Oh Me, Oh My, That Lilac Sky

Hello sweethearts!

So...this year carries a lot of exciting things for me :D one of them is Masters degree in Social Work! After 5 long years of studying I will finally get to do what I love ♥♥ and look good while I'm doing it hahah
Bringing you on the blog today a review of a perfect office and vintage inspired Gabriela dress by Voodoo Vixen

Gabriela is a part of Voodoo Vixens AW2015/16 collection made to bring some colour to your winter wardrobe. I was immediately sold when I saw that soft weave with a dainty bow on elegant boat neck!

I adore the details on this dress! Wraparound low cut collar gives this dress a dose of audacity but it does make it harder to combine it with a cardigan or a light jacket because of the bumps on the back that collar gives below the cardi. So layering can be a little unpleasant in this dress but since it has short sleeves it's often not even necessary.

Like most Voodoo Vixen dresses, this dusky purple wiggle number also comes in swing style (Paige). I decided to go with this style because I find it very sophisticated and subtle but also bold. One thing that I would really like is that Gabriela like Paige also has a matching belt, just to emphasize the waist a little.

I love the elegant faux buttons and the fishtail pencil skirt, it gives such a nice flattering fitted shape. Subtle seams on the bust are perfect for a bigger busted gals, discreet but important because they make the whole difference in the silhouette.

Gabriela is made out of 77% polyester, 20% cotton 3% and elastane so it provides a little stretch. Fabric is very soft and comfortable, color is gorgeous lilac and it just radiates that 1940's inspired elegance. By the sizing chart I am a size UK12 (M) but unlike Eloise (last Voodoo Vixen dress review here) which is also in size M and fits perfectly, this one has a little room on me. So I would say, if you are between sizes go with a smaller one in this particular style.

I paired my Gabriela with Woody Ellen clutch and a cute vintage inspired light pink shoes I got on eBay but I also love it in a little more "Agent Carter" inspired look with brown hat, belt, shoes and leather gloves. It offers a variety of combinations!

Vivien of Holloway Brocade perfection

Hello sweethearts!

OMG February already?! Days fly when you are a bussy bee. If it is judged by how it began, 2016. will be an excellent year! As usual I stay home for New Year's Eve, but I had always dreamed of a perfect sarong style dress for that occasion. Vivien of Holloway are famous for creating the ultimate pin up hourglass shape with their boned halter neck dresses so when I got a chance to review one of their gorgeous dresses I was just overjoyed!

It wasn't a doubt that I want a sarong style but how to choose between 58 (58!!!!) different available colours?! My heart went for elegant 1940's style silver black brocade sarong ♥♥♥

By my measures I was suggested to get a size B34, W26 (label size 12) which is smaller than I usually wear but since this dress has boning in bodice it is important to have a right fit at the waist. Since I lost some weight (and still working on it) dress was a perfect fit!

If you are unsure about the size go with the measures of your waist and hips because the dress will mould to your shape. And if you need extra room for your bust (like I do) you can wear it without your bra, I guarantee you will be well supported as the strategic boning in the dress is carefully designed from the waist through the bust to give you the curvy and wasp-waisted silhouette. Or you can always ask for an advice from a kind VOH team :)

I adore cute matching bolero that goes with this dress (mine is a size S)! It adds that extra bit of glamour to the ensemble and it's cut to suit the dress perfectly. Flattering bolero sits just a little above the waist (Im 5,7 tall so If you are shorter it will sit on your waist). It also has a little collar and capped sleeves to cover your back a little or tops of your arms in a chilly night out.

Since I am a huge 1940's enthusiast I just cant imagine this dress without a bolero, for me this is a perfect match and I love to wear it with and without bolero but than it has to be in my arms...just like cocktail ;)

My brocade silver black sarong dress has a gorgeous fabric, light and soft for that warm summer nights but still firm to hold it's shape, particularly in the draped part of sarong skirt.

Elegant black fabric is embroidered with understated oriental flower pattern with silver threads. It is perfect for weddings and other special occasions, but hey, why wear it only then? Every day is a special occasion!

I was always concern over those armpit bulges that show up in halter neck strap dresses and I guess that's why I haven't found then particularly comfortable. This wider style of halter neck strap is really flattering because it is placed just below the curve of the bust so it skims over that area comfortably and emphasizes sweetheart neckline.

One side draped skirt falls beautifully over the stomach area and gathers on the hip which is perfect for anyone who is a little conscious of their tummy area.

And if you are up for a little sass, this sarong  splits to a very modest area witch allows a little more movement in the dress but also surely make heads turn!

So if you want a beautiful sarong dress look no further! Or if you are in UK even better! Visit 294 Holloway Road in London or http://www.vivienofholloway.com/ and get yourself an hourglass shape in one of Vivien of Holloway designs!

Red poppy makes Eloise fabulous

Hello sweethearts!

First blog post in 2016. and may I say it is banging!

First I wanna say a huge thanks for 10K on Instagram, for me it is mind-blowing! There are no words to say how much I love pin up community, girls, brands and fellow bloggers... It is great to be surrounded by so much love and support ♥♥♥
Spring is just around the corner (at least in my part of the planet) and we are all excited to see SS2016 collections of out favorite brands! For me, my absolutely number one is Voodoo Vixen so I couldn't resist to try out one of their most popular pieces of AW collection, and since I lost some weight I decided to go bold and try out Voodoo Vixen Eloise dress.

What first attracted me to this dress is the finish of the neckline, low back and the sleeves. Eloise has that gorgeous wavy hem which emphasizes the silhouette and beautiful puppy print.

Sophisticated houndstooth print revives high quality poppy flowers and elbow length sleeves makes this dress perfect for spring and winter. I will get my masters degree in social work this spring so finding an office appropriate vintage inspired clothes is one of my missions and Eloise is perfect for a day at the office and drink with the girls after!

Not only is it pretty, it is also comfortable! Fabric is made out of  97% cotton and 3% elastane which gives her a comfortable stretch, just enough to hug your curves. And yey for the zip closure in the center of the back, it can be a little tricky because of the low cut but I still love it more than pulling it over my head.

Eloise has a cute thin belt in matching fabric and if you want to complete this look Voodoo Vixen has a matching bag and cardigan ANDDDD they offer a 10% off if you buy two or more from their popular poppy range with code "POPPY10!"

I pared my Eloise dress with red pumps and felt hat from ebay, plastic red earrings and custom made red coat.

Hope you enjoyed and found this review helpful because there is more of where that came from!

Love, Eleanor
